Opening Night Event: Local Bouquet by Niccy Pallant at Goodwood Theatre & Studios.
Niccy’s Quirky Australiana Series: 7 Bouquets for 7 reasons celebrates my Australian upbringing with Vegemite on toast and Beetroot on our salad plate. I've always been a fan of Margaret Preston's roughly cut native flower prints. I imagined she knew my Grandmother Margaret Jean who was an oil painter (Felter, Spinner, China painter and many other things) in the Adelaide Hills. I just love the patterns on the banksia pods and the dusky blue of eucalyptus leaves. They are calling out for the world of relief printing. I feel that this series will always be with me just like my artist grandmother. I’ve made a bouquet of Eyre Peninsula's coastal blooms, common (some even weeds) sanitised bouquet during the Covid19 Pandemic and a rusty billy tin bursting with Northern Territory natives while in Alice Springs.
They have appeared in the Adelaide Fringe & South Australian Living Artist Festivals with a brief sojourn as a finalist in the Port Lincoln Art Prize. Join me to celebrate them altogether for the first time with 2 new bouquets to make my magic 7.
Event starts at 6pm with a complimentary glass of champagne 🍾
